My favorite quote today comes from a New York Times article about FreshDirect.com. Regarding the company's refusal to work with middlemen, the founder said, "If you don't grow it, kill it or take it from the sea," he said, "we don't buy it from you."
As a FreshDirect fan, I'm glad to see the press, even though the writer didn't have as good an experience as we usually do. We've found that despite a few missing items here and there from orders, ordering online from the comfort of home whenever we want beats maneuvering through the cramped aisles of the average New York corner grocery any day.
